I måndags och idag är WestCoast Racing på plats på Hockenheim för tester med nya GT-bilen. Fredrik Lestrup körde sitt första test för teamet i måndags och idag onsdag ansluter Lars Stugemo för att tillsammans med Fredrik fortsätta testerna.
De två ska köra på race 2 i Svenska GT-ligan Swedish Racing League som i helgen körs på Mantorp fredag och lördag.

Life really is a roller coaster righyt now. After the accident at Jyllandsringen on Easter I went into a real engery saving mode. All my strength was used to get my body to start heal again and resting was the best medicine. A lot of time was spent watching movies in the couch but now I’ve finally been able to start training again. After x-ray and check-ups at my doctor Ulf Nordström I was sent through to Magnus Johansson at Örebro Rehabcentre who’s helping me.
This Friday I did my first light work-out but I’ve never had so much pain as I had after that small work-out. The training was really light but it felt and the body is weak. The stability in the torso have been noticeably weaker and that is one of the things we must fix. I had a work-out again this Monday and met Magnus to work out a fitness regime.
The fitness training have started and I have a couple of work-outs per week planned to be more and harder. So far I don’t do any exercises involving pressure or movements of the back but it feels so great to finally be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel!
Then of course there was another STCC-race this weekend, this time at Mantorp Park. Two eventful races where it felt like some drivers drove like bank robbers, especially in the first race. The ones leading before the weekend scored nothing and those who chased them had a good weekend so the championship is tighter again with Tommy Rustad the new leader. It will be exciting to follow, I predicted Fredrik Ekblom or Tommy Rustad to win the championship and they are now heading the championship but a lot will happen I’m sure.
Unfortunately my team mate Martin Öhlin dissapeared already at the start in the first corner. But it was fun to see ”Flash” win again though. He took his 34th STCC-victory and now equals my victory record. I can hardly ask for a better motivation than that to return to the track again! We will win races this year so at least Flash can’t say he’s the one who has won the most races …

Richard Göransson har inlett marschen tillbaka mot STCC. Nu har han klivit in i träningslokalen med sikte på att komma i form för BMW:n igen. Läs hans egna ord om återhämtningen.
Livet åker verkligen berg-och-dalbana just nu. Efter kraschen på Jyllandsringen på påskafton gick jag in i ett extremt energisparläge. All kraft gick åt till att få kroppen att börja läka och vila var en av medicinerna som var bra. Det blev en hel del filmtittande i soffan men nu har jag äntligen fått börja med lite rehabträning. Efter röntgen och besök hos min läkare, idrottsortoped Ulf Nordström, blev jag skickad vidare vidare till Magnus Johansson på Örebro Rehabcenter som nu tar hand om mig.
I fredags gjorde jag mitt första lilla enkla träningspass men jag har nog aldrig haft sådan träningsvärk som efter det lilla passet. Det var superlätt träning men den tog och kroppen var svag. Bålstabilieten hade försämrats märkbart och är nu en av grejerna som måste tränas upp igen. Idag måndag har jag tränat igen och träffat Magnus för att utveckla träningsprogrammet.
Träningen är nu i gång och det kommer att bli ett antal pass varje vecka som ska bli fler och hårdare. Än så länge är det inga övningar med tryck eller rörelse över ryggen men det känns ju bara så bra att man börjar se ljuset i tunneln igen!
I helgen var det ju STCC-race på Mantorp Park. Två händelserika race där det kändes som en del körde som bankrånare, i alla fall i första racet. De som låg i topp i mästerskapet nollade och de som jagade gjorde en bra helg så nu har det packat ihop sig i mästerskapstabellen och Tommy Rustad är ny ledare. Det kommer att bli spännande att följa framöver, jag tippade ju Fredrik Ekblom som segerkandidat ihop med Tommy Rustad och det är ju de två som är med i toppen nu också men mycket kommer hända.
Det var synd för min teamkompis Martin Öhlin som försvann redan i första kurvan i helgen. Däremot är det kul att Flash vinner igen. Han tog sin 34:e STCC-seger i helgen och har nu lika många som jag har. Bättre motivationsfaktor än det finns ju knappt för att komma tillbaka till banan igen! Vi ska vinna segrar igen så Flash inte kan säga att han vunnit mest…

Martin Öhlin scored two points by finishing ninth in the second race of the day at Mantorp Park. He started in 14th place and quickly moved himself into the points. Once there he had a race-long fight with Patrik Olssons turbocharged Volkswagen and was unable to pass on the long straights.
”Extremely frustrating to be behind their turbocharged cars. As soon as we are close to the tiniest of straights he just got a gap, then I caught him in the corners and it all started over again. It felt very frustrating,” Martin said.
He scored two points after the dissapointment in the first race where he got pushed off track at the start.
”Not the weekend we expected but this is how it went after what happened in the first race. At least we got a few points, much less than we expected and thought we would get but that’s how it goes. I’ll come back for Gothenburg,” Martin concludes.
Team manager Dick Jönsson Wigroth felt WestCoast Racing had a tough weekend at Mantorp despite showing they continue to have the pace and be the pace setters among the BMW’s.
”Once again we qualified as the best BMW and we expected a lot of points from the races. We are of course not satisfied with two points. But Martin showed that Knutstorp wasn’t a one time thing, he is strong and there’s no doubt we have the speed. That will pay off sooner or later this season,” Dick says.
Next race in STCC is Gothenburg City Race in three weeks time.
